Democrat Delegate could lose seat at Convention.
One vote does matter, especially if that vote means that you might lose your job; your job as a delegate, that is.
Wisconsin Democratic delegate, and staunch Hillary Clinton supporter, Debra Bartoshevich, has caused quite a ruckus within her state delegation. In June Bartoshevich told reporters that she will vote for Senator John McCain in November if Hillary Clinton is not the Democratic Nominee.
Certainly there are quite a few Clinton supporters who have said this, even publicly, but not actual delegates.
As a result, a formal credentials challenge has been filed by the state party. The challenge contends that by making such statements, Bartoshevich violated party rules and the “pledge of intent” which states that all delegates intend to vote for their party’s nominee.
In addition to making the public statements, Bartoshevich has also showed her dissatisfaction by joining a group called “Citizens for McCain”.

I am so tired of these Clinton supporters who are so-called Democrats. I’ve heard these supporters claim that the nomination was “stolen” from Hillary. How? I would like to know. Because they thought that she was a shoe in and ended up losing? That’s not stolen, that’s beaten. Hillary lost the race fare and square, now shut up and vote for the presumptive Democratic nominee if you’re so involved in the Democratic Party that you’re a delegate!
I have been an Obama supporter since before the first caucus-goer made their voice heard in Iowa. As the race went on I came to dislike Clinton and like Obama more and more. But if Obama had to concede the nomination to Clinton I would still vote for her in November because I think a Democrat should be in office next year for the good of the whole country.

“…now shut up and vote for the presumptive Democratic nominee…”
Whoa! What??
Really, Doodlebug, you sound like no democrat I know. The Democratic character of this country allows people to vote as the wish, and people OFTEN cross party lines. Surely if a Republican who supported Romney now pledged to support Obama, you would take no offense, right?
I personally vote for candidates, not parties. I have voted for both Democrats AND Republicans. When Hillary lost the nomination process, I could no longer vote for her. That did not mean I HAD to vote for Obama; that meant that I had a new choice: Obama or McCain. Now, I happen to like Obama over McCain, but that is my RIGHT as a citizen. Asking anything more of a voter would violate the very premise of this party–and the Washington-outsider platform of the nominee–you are so passionate about. Telling people to “shut up” will not woo anyone to your cause.

for what it’s worth - when ms. Bartoshevich signed on to be a delegate - she did “promise” to vote for the party’s nominee. What she actually does in the voting booth is her business, and her business alone - however, making public statements/actions that go squarely against the pledges she made when she became a delegate - is something of a concern.
Of course she has the right to vote for whomever she chooses as a US citizen - but she does not have a right to be a delegate to the Dem Convention.
It’s a complete honor to be a delegate and a really subjective system - even being the delegate on the ballot does not (in some states) assure that you will get a seat at the convention - people have been replaced for much less.

So I guess count every vote was just a fad in 2000.

Hi to whom ever will read this:
I’d like to address Debra Bartoshevich and others like her, concerns, as it relates to the Democratic Party. For those of us who have been following politics for sometime now, should know by now, that each candidate regardless of his or her party always try to pull out all the stops against their opponents, either from the left or from the right.
The facts is, Obama beat Hillary, and regardless of how his victory submerged, the fact is, he won, and he is our candidate for the oval office for president of the United States of America representing the democratic party.
I am a loyal democrat, and I am seriously looking for change in the United States of America. I travel quite often, and I can honestly say this; Americans are being treated different compared to how we used to be treated by foreign nationals. I see the Republican with an attitude that I don’t like. And we look at the two candidates who recently taken trips to several countries, Obama was more received. We are living in a global economy and we need other countries as much as they need us, so, this is one thing that should be of great significance.
Now! To experience: This is what I don’t understand, if every person that leaves college need experience before they get a job, do you know what the unemployment rate would be, much less America’s position in the world? We would be the equivalent of most third world countries.
I am pretty sure that we all have to start from somewhere before we gain experience, don’t you? And didn’t you? I honestly believe that this is a silly talk that is floating all over America, mainly by the Republicans and some democrats alike, an example, Debra Bartoshevich. I heard what she said when Hannity asked her to give him a reason why she will not vote for Obama. And one of her answers was, “experience”; there goes that favorite word again.
When I first came out of college seeking a position as an Accountant, and if it had left up to experience, I’d still today be without a job at the age of 49. We are living in a country, which is the most diverse country in the world, and it is time that we set aside our hatred regardless of its foundation, and do as God asked us to do. Most of us or either Christians, Catholics…the bottom-line is, most of us believe in God. So, we can’t hold the bible in one hand trying to live a righteous life and hatred regardless of its simplicity in the other. Remember, God said that we can’t serve to masters; it’s either him or the devil.
I asked that you all search your hearts and be truthful to yourself, set aside any contempt or inequalities that you may have and start loving, and come out strong and vote for Barack Obama as the next president of the United States of America. I am confident that he’ll be there for us all, republicans, democrats and independent, most of all as Americans.
I honestly hope that I was able to shed some light here. I’ll keep you all in my prayers daily. God Bless.
