T. Boone Pickens - the legendary oil man and venture capitalist testified before the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee this week, imploring the Senators, and Congress in general, to support his plan to release the US from their dependency on foreign oil (and oil altogether).
His plan focuses on using one of the US’s greatest resources - wind.

I love the idea of wind power! I’m all for anything that reduces our dependence on oil . . . except maybe using corn for fuel because it increases food prices (a real problem, especially for poor latino cultures that rely on corn tortillas as a staple) and is, I understand, also driving catfish farmers out of business in Mississippi, etc. — no need to hurt those family businesses or cause catfish (which I love) to disappear from our cuisine. This is a great “second act” for someone who spent his life in the oil business, I think, since it helps him leave a legacy of greener, cheaper energy for his grandchildren and everyone else.
