July Totals Are In

The July totals for fundraising are now in. John McCain reported raising $27 million over the course of the month. Barack Obama raised more than $51 million.
The fundraising totals for the RNC and DNC are a lot more even, though: $26 million and $27.7 million respectively.
Obama also managed to pass 2 million donors last month.

Ads Are Back on the Issues

It’s 81 days until the general election. Personally, I’m just glad that we’ve gotten off the ‘celebrity’ ads. Barack Obama’s new ad focuses on McCain’s economic plan.

Obama’s Turn Running a ‘Celebrity’ Ad

You know how I said last week that I was confused about John McCain’s efforts to accuse Barack Obama of being a celebrity? Well, now Obama is apparently playing the same game.
Americans like celebrities — we look up to sports stars, movie stars and sometimes even political stars. Based purely on […]

McCain’s Latest Ad Just Confuses Me

To be perfectly honest, I just don’t understand John McCain’s ads at this point. So far, he has accused Barack Obama of being a celebrity, the Messiah and — in the brand new ad at the top of this post — being grand.
At least to me, it just doesn’t make sense. McCain is […]

Obama Versus McCain: Raising Wages

Senators John McCain and Barack Obama actually agree on something: there aren’t enough American jobs with high wages. While that may sound like nothing more than campaign speeches, both candidates are discussing their plans to solve the stagnation of American wages.
Their plans are very different, of course. McCain’s plan involves cutting taxes on businesses in […]

Chronic Absenteeism in Congress

There’s a title in front of John McCain’s name: Senator. But does he really deserve it? Since January 2007, he’s missed 63 percent of the votes held in the Senate. The last time he was present for a vote was April 8.
Of course it takes a lot of time to campaign for president. Barack […]

McCain Hasn’t Quite Decided…

A senior source on John McCain’s campaign staff let it slip to CNN that the senator hasn’t decided on a running mate so far, and can’t set a date for an announcement. This differs from prior statements.
McCain has offered no hints on whether he’s even made a choice yet, let alone who that choice […]

Who’s Funding McCain?

More than one half of John McCain’s campaign warchest is coming from fundraisers who ‘bundle’ donations. $75.6 million was brought McCain’s campaign by about 500 people. Those figures are through June — July fundraising information has not been released yet.
Barack Obama, in contrast, relied on about 500 fundraisers to bundle donations, as well. But Obama’s […]

JibJab’s New Election Video

Send a JibJab Sendables® eCard Today!

JibJab, the folks behind the “This Land” parody that made headlines during the 2004 election, are still making political videos. This one takes aim at McCain and Obama, and does it quite well.

McCain Sorta Kinda Can’t Be President

Image details: McCain And Obama Address LULAC National Convention served by picapp.com
According to the U.S. Constitution, the President must be a natural born citizen. Technically, John McCain isn’t.
McCain was born August 29, 1936 at Coco Solo Naval Air Station in the Panama Canal Zone. He wasn’t born in the U.S., and, at the time […]
